I wanted to share an illustration I did for my cousin. I like to do these "Bird Brains" for fun. It's the type of painting I don't really have to think about to much. It's just fun!

One of my favorite things about my cousin is that she has embraced her husbands family traditions. Really what girl wouldn't love wearing such beautiful traditional clothing and jewelry! This is what they wore on their wedding day.

They live in New Jersey so I thought the state bird should perch on their heads. The Eastern Goldfinch.

I'm so happy to have the day off from work today. I'm planning to finish Susan Branches latest book about the English countryside. I'm in love with this book! I went to England with my sister and mother many years ago and it has always been one of the highlights of my life. I often fantasize about moving there!

I hope you are having a wonderful day wherever you are and I hope it's warmer where you are than it is here. Although I should not complain, I believe we will be getting up to 20 degrees today!

  1. Hi Shelly! We're up to a "balmy" 35 degrees here in Maryland today. I've been researching how to use all the features available on Blogger....my mind is on that, so I noticed you've done what I often do: forgot to put a title on this post! Your archives shows your first sentence. :-) I love that you do illustrations for your family. They must love that. I'm actually trying acupuncture right now to help me "find" my drawing ability.

  2. HA! Great minds Cathy!!!! We don't need no stinking details (like titles!) I'd love to see what you're drawing and how the acupuncture affects you. Very interesting!!
